Plane Tickets!
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA
My current trip planning is to Seoul, Korea! I have a college friend who is from Korea, and I am going to be a bridesmaid in her wedding! I am a poor just graduated college student and need to travel on a budget. I researched for four months different airlines, websites, prices, travel dates and here is what I found:
- The cheapest days to fly are Tuesday or Wednesday, all morning flights! Sunday's are the most expensive. Watch for arrival time, if I took an overnight stay in Texas and arrived a whole day later I would save $100 but would of ended up spending it in hotel and cab fees anyway.
- I like to check cheaptickets.com for the cheapest days to fly. They have a great search option where you can select +/- 3 days from your tentative flying days. It only works if you can be a little flexible.
- Expedia gave me the best deal. I searched Travelocity, StudentUniverse, Lowcoastairlines, orbitz, kayak, Cheaptickets.com
- After signing up with Expedia and agreeing to receive special promotions/sales, I have gotten notice of 24 hour sales and have gotten $100 off by buying my tickets during the promotion.
- Larger airports are often but not always cheaper than the smaller airports.
- Smaller airports are bigger sticklers on baggage weight. I could get away with a 53 pound bag in a larger airport but had to be exactly 50 pounds flying from the smaller port.
- The best time to order international flights in advance is 5-6 months before. When I looked in December, prices were $500 cheaper by March for an August trip.
