MAUI, HI

MAUI, HAWAII

Beautiful, quaint countryside Maui!

As I moved to the island of O'ahu, Hawaii, I didn't know much about the different islands that made up the state. I didn't even know much about where I was moving to. I picked my apartment based on a friend of a friend, depended on my company for help with the transition, and packed 2 suitcases and a carry-on with all my essentials.
Then, after 3 weeks of work, I received my first vacation! One week for Fall Break...what was I going to do with it? I have made it my goal to hike every legal hike on O'ahu, so that was always an option, along with the endless beaches with their own unique entities. But I decided island hopping even on my single paycheck was a necessity.
Just 35 minutes on a propeller 40 passenger plane, with complementary drinks still available, and I was there! Unlike O'ahu, Maui is a lot less crowded by tourists and business. It's like getting out of the city to the countryside where horses graze by the twisting, single lane roads etched into the mountainside. The only difference is the ocean is never far away, and an hour drive can take you from coast to coast unlike the mainland where country can mean 4 hours to the nearest town which houses their local grocery store and single gas station. Either way country life suits my tastes.

Nothing concludes a day better than the beauty of the sun whispering goodnight over the water!
